“Our nation has the Constitution it does thanks to a Connecticut white oak tree.

On Independence Day weekend and in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we invite you to learn about the legend of the Charter Oak and the contributions of white oak trees to the history, culture environment and economy of our great state. See the new documentary: Still_Standing:_CT’s_Living_Symbol_of_Liberty_and_Legacy .
ALSO, we invite you to help us document the unique, special and legacy white oaks throughout Connecticut. Visit the interactive map and survey: Legacy White Oak Trees of Connecticut and tell us about the oldest, largest, and/or most special white oak tree in your town or neighborhood.
Many thanks to the CT Humanities Council, the Hampshire Foundation, UConn Clear, CT DEEP, CT Audubon, Mystic Seaport and many others for their valuable contributions.
Happy Independence Day!
Thank you.
